Arts Council of Greater New Haven
The Arts Council strives to advance the region by providing leadership and support to New Haven’s diverse arts community. They envision a thriving arts community at the heart of this city and believe that art, culture, and creativity are fundamental human rights. Their programs and service have shifted over the last six months to provide critical support for artists and cultural organizations to weather the pandemic and strive for anti-racism and cultural equity. The Fellow would support a variety of programs with strategic guidance and back office support. This is an opportunity to explore New Haven’s diverse creative ecosystem, from independent creatives to cultural organizations, activists to municipal leaders.
City of New Haven Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism
The Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism seeks to improve the quality of life for New Haven residents. By celebrating arts and culture, it becomes a catalyst for economic development, equitable civic engagement, and spiritual uplift. The Department assists, promotes, and encourages artists, arts and cultural organizations, and events in New Haven. The Fellow would work on the implementation of programming and policy recommendations related to the New Haven Department of Arts, Culture & Tourism’s Cultural Equity and Inclusion Plan (est. CEI plan completion by June 2021).

Creative Arts Workshop
Creative Arts Workshop is a center for contemporary arts in New Haven, serving as a community and production space for artists and the broader community—to cultivate ideas, impact social change, and connect with new networks. They believe that creativity is part of the human experience and that everyone is inherently creative. The Fellow would aid in the creation of a History of Creative Arts Workshop that would help them to celebrate their past and contextualize their plans for the future.

Ely Center of Contemporary Art
The Ely Center of Contemporary Art strives to ensure the continuation of its essential identity as a vibrant arts center bringing together and collaborating with its community around curatorial practice that initiates and instigates issues, ideals, and innovations to explore the human condition and to address a larger cultural context of interests in more open and inclusive dialogues. The Fellow would be introduced to all aspects of the art center operations including curatorial and community cultural engagement work. They will work directly with the executive board and interface with staff, volunteers and participating artists, plan upcoming exhibitions and conceptualize and organize cultural events such as panel discussions, performances, and workshops.

International Festival of Arts and Ideas
The International Festival of Arts & Ideas inspires and delights audiences with a world-class festival presented live from the heart of New Haven. As a catalyst and connector, they also partner with the community and nurture the next generation of arts professionals through initiatives including the Neighborhood Festivals and Arts & Ideas High School Fellowship Program.
Placement 1: The Fellow would support the 2021 cohort of Arts & Ideas High School Fellowship students in creating meaningful artistic capstone projects. They would also work closely with the Fellowship Program teachers to assess the program and build recruitment strategies for 2022 cohort.
Placement 2: The Fellow would support the Festival in presenting high-quality, engaging Tours and Food Series events, assess whether these events are engaging a diverse audience, and explore new opportunities for tour locations and topics to take place in future years.
