Welcome to the Synapse Essay Contest! This essay contest prompts students from elementary school to high school to ponder questions that go beyond the scope of science taught at school. Students will be asked to provide their thoughts on a specific topic of their choosing and to consider the topic in the scope of the limits, ethics, and possibilities of science.
The members of Yale Synapse will choose the top three winners from all three age categories to be recognized, have their essays published on the Yale Synapse website and in the next edition of the Yale Scientific Magazine, and receive prize money. The <11 year old group winner will recieve $50, the first place winners of the 11-15 year old group and 16+ year old group will receive $100 and the second place winners will receive $75. Winners will be announced on December 21st, 2022.
Open to all students in elementary through high school.
