Event Description:
Oxford University benefited financially and socially from the proceeds of the 400-year Atlantic slave trade. This film looks at how Balliol (one of Oxford’s oldest colleges) responded to the slave trade during the Age of Revolution. Through college archives and interviews, a portrait emerges of the discord the slave trade inflicted on the college, and how those issues impact the college today. Sponsored by Yale Urban Ethnography Project.
