Humanities Now: Mysteries of History

Event Time:
Saturday, November 21, 2020 - 1:30pm to 3:00pm
Event Description:

The 2020 presidential election permitted the highest number of mail-in and absentee ballots in the history of the United States. But do you know what happened to those ballots? Did they all really get counted? Does everybody’s vote even count? At this inaugural session of Humanities Now: Mysteries of History, you will have the chance to go behind-the-scenes of one of the most fundamental (and yet mysterious) American rights: The Right to Vote.
Join Professor Mark Peterson and travel back in time to America in the late 19th century. Professor Peterson will be an historical “tour guide” through the history of ballots and elections to help us answer the questions: What has really changed in the past 150 years? How can our historical past help inform our democratic future?
