20 York Street New Haven, CT 06510

The Department of Anesthesiology at Yale invites you to our FOURTH annual anesthesia workshop! You will learn how anesthesiologists keep patients safe during surgery, how we literally “take your breath away” at the start of the surgery, and have you “breathe again” at the end. Plus, you’ll get hands-on experience with some of the airway devices we use for both adult and pediatric patients.

Students will rotate through several different stations, such as these from Anesthesiology Day 2025:

  • Vitals - Take blood pressure and monitor heart rate and oxygen saturation
  • Ultrasound - Scan for nerve and vascular anatomy and perform nerve block anesthesia
  • Intubation - Practice intubating on a mannequin
  • Bronchoscopy VR - Practice a bronchoscopy on a computer
  • IV - Learn how to obtain intravenous access using a mannequin arm
  • Pediatrics - Intubate pediatric patients using mannequins
  • Cricothyroid/Trachea - Practice on trachea models how to access an emergency airway
  • CPR - Learn how to perform CPR on mannequins

Open to Pathways Scholars in grades 9-12. Registration is not yet open.
