Event Description:
Join us at the Yale University Art Gallery and NXTHVN for a day of panel discussions related to the exhibition Mickalene Thomas / Portrait of an Unlikely Space and featuring artists, curators, and scholars. This program is followed by a celebration of the release of the accompanying catalogue, which includes contributions by cocurators Mickalene Thomas (b. 1971, M.F.A. 2002) and Keely Orgeman, the Seymour H. Knox, Jr., Associate Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art, as well as Deborah Willis, University Professor and Chair of the Department of Photography and Imaging at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University. Panel discussions generously cosponsored by The Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts, the Terra Foundation for American Art, and the Yale University Art Gallery’s Janet and Simeon Braguin Fund and Martin A. Ryerson Lectureship Fund. Keynote conversation and book launch generously cosponsored by NXTHVN and the Yale School of Art.
