Event Description:

Do you like design, art, and theatre? The Yale Dramatic Association’s Fall Theatre Design Workshop is a 9-week intensive dive into the world of theatrical design for New Haven public high school students grades 9-12. This essential foundation-building course taught by world-class professionals offers students an in-depth, hands-on approach to theatrical design. The intensive begins with the history and basic theory of design as well as an overview of how to interpret a text. After selecting a play on which to focus their efforts, students will walk through the process of brainstorming, researching, and executing costume, scenic, lighting, and sound design proposals. This workshop will not only develop a student’s technical skills, but will help the student cultivate a strong personal aesthetic and style. The course will culminate in a final student presentation of their designs in all four areas! No prior experience necessary! We hope you’ll join us, and come check out our showcase on Sept 12 from 3-4:15pm ET to learn more!
Open to New Haven Public High School Students
