Event Time:

Event Description:

Presented by:
Karin Roffman, Yale Humanities Senior Lecturer & Nancy Kuhl, Beinecke Library Curator of Poetry
In this virtual creative writing and reading workshop, we’ll focus on everyday objects in poems —buttons, spoons, ribbons, paper bags — and think about how these things are described (or not described) in our daily language and in poetry. We’ll explore documents and objects from the Beinecke Library’s collections—many of which can be found online in the Beinecke’s Digital Library: https://brbl-dl.library.yale.edu/vufind/
We’ll read short poems, write, and look at small, often overlooked objects found in the Beinecke Rare Book and Manuscript Library in order to examine the larger question: how can poetry help us understand something new about things we already know well?
