Ask-A-Scientist Webinar with Engineering Students

Event Time:
Tuesday, June 23, 2020 - 5:00pm
Location:
Zoom instructions will be sent to those who register. See map
Event Description:

Join us for our final installment of Ask A Scientist by Yale Graduate Student Women Engineers (GradSWE). This week, we will hear from two Yale physicists, Chris Wang and Lauren Saunders! Chris is a physics PhD student who builds small quantum devices using superconducting circuits. He will talk about what a quantum computer is, what it can (and cannot) do for society, and the many different ways researchers are trying to build one. Lauren is an astrophysics PhD student who studies the oldest light in the Universe, known as the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB). She will talk about the CMB and the telescopes she builds to to observe it!
In this weekly Webinar hosted by the Yale Graduate Student Women Engineers, we explore different areas of science, including environmental engineering, biomedical engineering and physics. We’ll also share why we each decided to pursue STEM. Attendees are encouraged to ask questions about the science or our pathway to science.
Open to 7th Graders and up.  Register now. Note: In this webinar format, attendee videos are turned off.
